Courtyard meeting: At the courtyard meeting held on the date 5 March 2023 in 3 no ward Bakurta union under Savar Upazila, Ms. Aisha Begum (House wife) said the government is providing free legal aid to the poor people of the village. So, through today's courtyard meeting, we learned about legal services. We will tell our neighbors Legal Aid Helpline-16430 number and about the government's free legal aid.
UPLAC Orientation: At the UPLAC orientation held on the date 5 March 2023 Kalatia union under Keraniganj Upazila, The Union Legal Aid Committee arranged an orientation for LAC members. Mr. Motaleb Hossain, Secretary of the Kalatia Union and also he was member Secretary of Legal Aid Committee and he has chaired the orientation programme. Field officer of the keraniganj Upazila started the meeting, greeting everyone present. He concluded the presentation on the issue of the Legal Aid Act-2000 and gender related issues with the approval of the UPLAC, in the order of permission of him and explained all aspects of it beautifully. Later, all of them talked about the matter openly. The following quote: Mr. Anwar Hossain, Assistant Union Agriculture officer said Gender-Based Violence against women, Violence Extremism, and traffic in person so people are constantly filling these problems in the Keraniganj area. The victims came to the Union Parishad facing many problems when selling and buying land. Today we learned about legal aid Act-2000, through this orientation training, now we can take care of this matter through the Legal Aid Office Dhaka. Thanks to funding by USAID and their partner’s organization Democracy International and Aparajeyo-Bangladesh organizing the Orientation .
UPLAC Bi-monthly meeting: At the UPLAC Bi-monthly meeting held on the date 9 March 2023 Mr. Abdul Kader Molla, New Chairmen, Gungutia Union Parishad, Dhamrai Upazila said The government is providing legal services for the poor at government expense but Publicity campaigns should be increased. People do not know the Legal Aid Office so they are deprived of legal facilities through Union Parishad. If government support is available, we can provide a place for legal aid services in the Union Parishad where an officer can assist them with legal aid.
School Debate: At the debate on legal rights and responsibilities held on 6 March 2023, Ms. Gita Mondol, a student of Grade 10 of Ati Pachdana high school, Sakta union under Keraniganj Upazila said, “I learned a lot about Legal Aid through debate competitions. The subject of which was the main role of legal aid in helping poor people with the law, we didn't know about Legal Aid issue before after getting the briefing on legal aid and online news and paper cuttings on legal aid including rules and responsibility on Legal rights and provided us a lot of massage through our teacher Md. Mobarak Hossain sir and PPJ Dhaka project give us left lets, sticker and others important information to help the facilitate for debate, we came to know about such an important facility of Government for getting justice, we will provide them with a Legal Aid helpline number 16430 and also we students will go and message our family and neighborhood people to get legal help and they go to Dhaka Legal Aid Office.
